SleepSack: A Safer Sleep Giveaway

If you have just had a baby, then you know how important sleep is for both infant and mom. If you are looking for a way to keep baby warm and secure but safe at the same time, then check out Halo SleepSack wearable blankets.

I remember bringing home my infant daughter and putting her in a sweet pajama set to sleep in but I kept wondering if she was cold since I couldn't put a blanket on her.  I also didn't want to bundle her to warm since babies can overheat easily.  I wish I would have had the Halo SleepSack option which would have provided a wearable blanket for her and kept her warm enough at night. I'm really happy I have it with baby #2 though!

100% Cotton Ruffle SleepSack® Wearable Blanket

Retail Price: $30.00

I just love Halo's new Ruffle Sleepsack.  It's so soft and pretty.
The zipper zips from the bottom to the top to protect baby.

There is plenty of leg room for baby as well.

The SleepSack™ wearable blanket replaces loose blankets for safer sleep. It's the only product that carries seals from leading SIDS organizations in both the U.S. and Canada. The SleepSack™ wearable blanket allows your baby to stay safe, warm and cozy all night long. Now the #1 product on the market is available in an organic alternative - ideal for the family that embraces a natural lifestyle. Made of 100% organically-grown cotton that is free of chemicals, dyes and preservatives.

Easter in Hawaii

What a lovely day at the beach and perfect for some pre-egg hunting.  Chocolate filled eggs would melt pretty fast in this weather so we opted for some mermaid style sea shell filled eggs for this hunt.

Each one filled with a gem from the sea!

The search begins!

Happy Easter!

Dr. Weil Baby Bottle

I am a fan of Dr. Andrew Weil. I have read Dr. Andrew Weil's Guide to Optimum Health and subscribe to his newsletter. He always has great tips and new healthy information to share, After reading more, I have learned a lot about the powerful medicinal properties of mushrooms for the body and especially for skin.

I didn't know that Dr. Weil made bottles and sippy cups! With all the hype over the BPA controversy, it's comforting to know there are safe alternatives. His line is not just safe but is a sleek modern design, made of Tritan and Glass. Tritan is a plastic made from copolyester. It is BPA-free, Recycle Resin #7, impact and shatter resistant, dishwasher safe, and able to be sterilized. Don't be confused with some plastics that are also labeled # 7 which are polycarbonates and do contain BPA. They also claim that tritan does not retain flavors from previous beverages, ensuring a fresh expected taste experience.

All of the parts are engineered, tested, and manufactured in the USA to ensure they meet the strictest quality control standards.
The metro-looking bottles have a AirWave vent system effectively works to reduce colic and a soft nipple. All of the products and packaging are recyclable to reduce the carbon footprint
For all of the expecting moms, and/or moms with babies looking for BPA free bottlesBPA free sippy cups or you want more information on a line free of toxins, check out

Naturally Dyed Easter Eggs

Our eggs we dyed using food coloring

Eggs dyed using foods (picture from

My family and I have so much fun dyeing Easter eggs with foods around our house.  I seem to only have the picture of the eggs dyed with food coloring(see top picture) but we will be dyeing our eggs soon using some of these great ideas. Yes, we do love the brightness the food coloring gives to dyeing eggs but the natural look that using coffee, tumeric, and other foods is charming and a lot more fun.
Last year, beet juice worked great and that was my daughter's favorite color. My husband preferred the rustic coffee color and I liked the golden turmeric hue. Here are some other great ideas for naturally coloring your eggs. Your kids will have so much fun because it's kind of a cooking/science experiment.

Here are some ingredient suggestions to get you started. Have fun, experiment and be sure to cover your work area!

Joovy's Spoon is Walker meets Highchair

Walker meets highchair.  Once mealtime is over, there is lots of room for play!

The Spoon has a unique and modern look that we just love.  My seat is a lime green that's bright and fresh.  Joovy's spoon also comes in blueberry, charcoal, and purple.

The first feature I noticed was the super-sized tray with removable insert where there is a lot of room for all your child’s favorite toys!
The base is strong and wide  to support baby and also keep baby safe as he/she cruises around the house. The seat is comfy with three height positions that we tried out right away.
I also through the seat in the wash a few days ago and it came out great.
The wheels roll great and really allows the baby to move freely.  I also have to note that my daughter wanted me to put it together before my husband came home.  I hesitated but then gave it a go.  It took me 7 minutes to take it out of the box and attach the seat.  Super easy!  My husband checked it out to make sure it was safe and really likes the sturdiness of it while my daughter and I like the simple white and green look a lot that blends perfectly into our kitchen.
He pointed out that baby's fingers won't get pinched when he/she is cruising through tight spaces thanks to the wide design.

It was also easy to clean and wipe down which makes it great for a meal or snack time. What a great product to help your child master walking and gain independence!

The Spoon folds flat for easy storage.

I'm REALLY happy that the Spoon is entirely BPA, PVC and Phthalate Free! Way to go JOOVY.
