Sea Urchin Jewelry

photo: www.momsbestbet.com

Who doesn't want to wear a treasure from the sea? There is something very appealing about the mix of metal and using organic material like sea shells.

SEA URCHIN GREECE is a shop on ETSY that sells the most lovely sea urchins and also creates beautiful jewelry with these fragile shells.

This is the triple sea urchin ring that sells for $45.00. It's beautifully made with etching on the silver part of the ring, which gives it an antique feel. Three of the cutest tiny sea urchins sit atop adorned with little silver jewels that brings the whole piece together. Don't worry about breakage because she seals and fills them so they are sturdy. You can visit her site here (and check out the free shipping:): http://www.etsy.com/shop/SEAURCHINGREECE
Check out her pictures below that are taken in Greece:

New Shops at Ward Village

Ward Village Shops Phase Two Rendering.JPG
The Ward Village Shops here on Oahu, Hawaii is expanding and has a preview of what is in store for the completion of Phase Two.

The Howard Hughes Corporation announced today that Nordstrom Rack and Pier 1 Imports will be the first tenants in Phase Two of Ward Village Shops. The two retailers are relocating from their current locations in Ward Centers.

The construction of Phase Two of Ward Village Shops is just one of many exciting changes at Ward Centers. The Howard Hughes Corporation announced in May that Bed Bath & Beyond would occupy the Diamond Head wing of Ward Centre – the former location of Borders Books & Music. Pier 1 Imports and Nordstrom Rack will be adjacent to T.J.Maxx, which opened in May. During construction, shoppers and diners can enjoy the colorful mural painted by a multi-generational group of talented local artists.

Your child's artwork custom t-shirt

It's fun to design your own t-shirt, especially for kids.  My daughter painted a pink castle that she wanted to put on a t-shirt and Zazzle made that possible.
It took a few minutes to get the picture centered correctly and to add some text and then we were done.  When the t-shirt arrived I was happy with the quality and the design was clear and bright.

How to turn your child's masterpiece into a t-shirt:

  • Visit Zazzle
  • Pick your style shirt
  • Upload your child's picture (that you scanned)
  • Add text (if you would like)
  • Hit submit!

For around $20 (plus shipping) you can have a custom shirt of your own.  I think this would make a fun birthday surprise!

Charm Design Handmade Purse Giveaway

There is something about a yellow bag, especially with a handmade vintage style.  To test out my new purse I decided to take it on a mini vacation to see how it performed.
It was roomy enough that I was able to fit everything inside, including my camera.  Also, there are sewn compartments that make organizing easy.  The straps were comfortable on my shoulder and never fell down.  Oh, and the color...it went with everything!
This beautiful handmade bag is made by Charm Design. Charm Design is an online boutique founded by Ranja Lee who is a stay-at-home mom with two children. It is obvious that she loves to design and sew bags. Her attention to detail and style got her featured in The Martha Stewart Show in 2008.

I love all of her unique and lovely patterns. Her concept is to encourage women to change their purse to compliment their outfits and mood. I get bored carrying the same bag and love to change it now and then. Charm Design makes this easy with so many fabrics to choose and such reasonable prices. You can find many different styles from shoulder bags, tote bags, zipper pouch, and granny bags. There are pockets inside for your cell phone and essentials. The fabrics are inspired by Japanese fabric and is very eye catching and different. What a great gift one of these would make!

No Peel Pink Applesauce

I know applesauce is usually brown with a slight peach hue but this is the most delicious pink applesauce and simple to make.  That's right no coring or peeling either!
Recipe:
First I washed 6 organic McIntosh apples
Next I put them in a pot with 1/2 cup of water and a cinnamon stick
When the apples were very soft I put it through a food mill
Then I added 1/4 cup of sugar and some shakes of cinnamon (to taste)

That's it! It's Easy, Pink, and Healthy!

How to Make a Fall Tree

"Our Autumn Tree"
It's almost autumn and living in Hawaii means no beautiful falling colorful leaves to look at but I'm not complaining because we made our own! Don't they look real?

Here's how:
*Cut out leaves (you can use a template) on different fall colored construction paper
*Paint them with acrylic washable paint (until they are wet) and lay them to dry on a flat surface
*Add some glitter paint or vein detail with a small brush
*Find a branch with some character for you to stick the leaves on

How to Hide Vegetables in Tomato Sauce

Adults and children cannot seem to get enough vegetables these days. This is partially due to the lack of vitamins in them from depleted soil and increasing pesticides used.

I found that giving my daughter raw veggies but also adding them into sauces, smoothies, etc. would ensure that she would be getting enough daily. Also, if your child doesn't like to eat his/her veggies, and meal time is stressful, then this is an easy recipe that your kids can enjoy.
Spaghetti Sauce:

1 jar of organic tomato sauce (or homemade)
1/2 cup of sliced carrots
1/2 cup of spinach or kale
sprinkle of oregano fresh basil and parsley

When it has cooked down puree with food processor
*if your child likes a chunkier sauce then add some sauteed zucchini and mushrooms as well.
