Dinosaur Train's New Episode for National Train Day

Dinosaur Train

“Dinosaur Train” will celebrate America’s love of trains with special programming and activities throughout the month of May. To kick off, the award-winning and critically acclaimed animated preschool series from The Jim Henson Company, will debut an all new episode on May 6 on PBS KIDS (please check local listings). Additionally, special train-themed activities and events will be featured in partnership with local PBS stations and on the series’ website.
Celebrating National Train Day, which takes place on May 7th, the new episode includes two 11-minute animated segments with live-action sequences featuring a paleontologist who brings to life the show's natural science and natural history curriculum for preschoolers.

We loved “Junior Conductor Jamboree,” where Buddy and his family ride the Dinosaur Train from one end of the line to the other and visit all three time periods--from the Cretaceous, through the Jurassic, to the Triassic. In “Troodon Train Day,” the Pteranodon family rides to Troodon Town to celebrate Troodon Train Day, where the main event is a concert by King Cryolophosaurus, giving his first performance in years! These are 2 awesome shows not to be missed by your "dino fans."

Select PBS Stations across the U.S. will also be hosting train-themed events throughout the month.

There is also a “Dinosaur Train” interactive website that my daughter visits often at Children can join BuddyTiny and all their friends as they discover natural history and the science of paleontology through fun games and activities. During the month of May, the website will celebrate trains with a special themed homepage and new fun printable activities. Kids can also play the online game “All Aboard!” to become a Jr. Conductor on the Dinosaur Train! (

Perfect Mother's Day Gift at Pro Flowers

Shop Mother's Day Flowers & Gifts

Millions will be scrambling for the perfect gift for their incredible mothers very soon.  One gift that is timeless and beautiful is flowers!  Take a look at for great prices, wide selection, and fast delivery.

"The Reasons I Love Mom" Truffle Box
Pro Flowers also carries other gifts for mom like chocolates, potted plants, fruit baskets, and jewelry.  I really love this gardenia potted plant below!

Potted Gardenia for Mom

My Experience:
I chose the Mother's Day tulips which are quintessentially Spring.   They came beautifully arranged in a large box.  But, they were very limp, and I learned pretty quickly that tulips are very delicate.  It's important to leave them in the wrapping for a few hours in water before you cut it off to get the water into the stems.
Well, I think the long journey to Hawaii was a little much for them and they hung over the vase.  So, I let Pro Flowers know about it.  The upside is that they have a great customer service policy and promptly let me choose another bouquet.  I decide to pick a hardier flower and I chose orchids.
My Hawaiian Orchids

They arrived a week ago and look brand new.  I am overly pleased with the presentation and customer service. So, I decided to order flowers for my grandmother.   I chose to call to use a coupon and it took quite a bit of time and their computers were working slow.  I recommend ordering online since it's fast and easy.

Have a Happy Mother's Day and check out Pro Flowers for their selection of perfect gifts that say I love You!

Chadwicks Cardigan Sweater Review

When shopping from a catalog or when buying online, looks can be deceiving. The pictures are always beautiful and the models make anything look good.  So how are you to know what will be a match for you?  It's always a good idea to shop with a company that you know, like Chadwicks.  I have a few items from their catalog and I have never been disappointed.

Here are some shopping tips when purchasing clothing from a catalog or online:

*Find a reputable company that offers customer reviews
*Read the companies policies and return protocol
*Look at the length, material, and other features
*Ask yourself if you have ever tried on anything similar and if it's flattering on you

My latest find is this cardigan pictured above.  I have to say that it is 100% as lovely as the picture.   It's perfect for Spring!! I have already worn it shopping several times.  In Hawaii you always need a light sweater for air conditioned stores and this cardigan fits perfectly.  I was really impressed and just love this color as well.
Check it out, you won't be disappointed!  It also comes in a few other colors such as blue and white.

Healthy Ceramic Non Stick Cookware

The chemicals in non-stick cookware are alarming. One of the synthetic chemicals is perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), used in production that creates a soap-like slipperiness and non-stick finish. Switching to stainless steel is a better option but it's difficult to prevent sticking especially when cooking eggs. I don't want dangerous chemicals and heavy metals into my food.  What's the point of buying healthy food if you are cooking it in unhealthy  chemical laden pans right?

I stumbled upon
Dr. Mercola's website, which has a line of Xtrema cookware as well as a wealth of knowledge about their pans. Even stainless steel cookware can possibly be leaching a variety of heavy metals.
Xtrema Cookware has a whole line of healthy cookware.
We received the 10″ Open Ceramic Skillet from Xtrema Cookware.  This is a a lovely black heavy duty skillet with a gloss finish.  It comes with directions that are a must, since this is ceramic and can shatter if not used properly.

Once cleaned I I made sure the burner was hot and then placed the skillet on to cook my eggs.  This skillet retains heat longer than a normal pan and cooked the eggs quickly.  I did find that there was a few spots where the eggs stuck.  This is a pan that you need to try a few times and adjust your heat setting g as well as your oil or butter.  I now have the knack and can cook non stick eggs in a pinch.
It also works well with other dishes, especially all of the Indian food  have been making.

Wellness Wednesday- How to sit correctly

In case you haven't heard every first and third Wednesday is "Wellness Wednesday" here at Mom's Best Bets.  I invite you to learn more about getting healthy with Lifetime Family Wellness Center.
Sitting correctly is essential if you want to save your back.  Here are some tips:

1. Sit With Your Hips Higher Than Your Knees
2. Sit With Feet Flat on the Floor
3. Don't hunch over
4. Some chairs may require a
lumbar seat wedge to provide additional lower back support.
5. Make sure your computer or work is not too low that your head is in a downward position.

I have been applying these tips whenever I am at the computer.  The Lumbar seat wedge works terrific.
If you or a loved one suffers from from an ailment or just wants to be and stay healthy, then I recommend visiting a chiropractor. Just another reason to schedule an appointment today!

Dyeing Easter Eggs Naturally

My family and I had so much fun dyeing Easter eggs this year with foods around our house. Beet juice worked great and that was my daughter's favorite color. My husband preferred the rustic coffee color and I liked the golden turmeric hue. Here are some other great ideas for naturally coloring your eggs. Your kids will have so much fun because it's kind of a cooking/science experiment.

Caillou Doll and Learning Train Review

It's difficult to find a children's cartoon that stars people living a normal life without the drama.  This is why I like Caillou, which airs on Sprout and PBS kids.
Caillou is a preschooler that is curious about his world and asks his understanding parents lots of questions.  He also has a younger sister that he sometimes gets frustrated with, but his parents help him make sense of the world around him.
Caillou Plush Stuffed 13 Inch Doll

If you have been looking for Caillou toys, then you know they are hard to find  but ID Toys carry some great Caillou Toys like the Caillou Doll, which is perfect for pre-schoolers (boys or girls).  The doll is vinyl and cloth and looks a lot like the animated character for around  $29.99.
Caillou toy - Learning Train Playset

The  Caillou Learning Train comes with two cars that hook together with two figurines, Caillou and his little sister, Rosie. The characters bop up and down, the flag makes a noise when touched and the bell rings.  It's a bright educational toy that will please your Caillou fan.  It also sells for around $25.00
