Mila Superfood Giveaway

So Excited about Lifemax MILA Superfood

I am very excited to tell you all about the newest addition to my kitchen: a little chia seed called MILA! WHAT IS Chia?

For those of you that have never heard of chia, it's a seed. It was eaten by the Aztecs at the time of Columbus’s arrival. It hasfewer carbs than rice, barley, oats, wheat, or corn and contains high amounts of calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, iron, zinc, and copper.

The Miracle Seed is gluten–free, trans–fat free, sugar–free, high in fiber and protein, has no taste or smell and can be deliciously combined with many foods! It's low in sodium, Its supreme biological properties are not diminished by heat in the baking process, therefore making it easy to incorporate into your favorite recipes.
WHY MILA?
Mila™ is a mixture of Salvia hispanica L. seed which has been carefully selected to maximize its nutritional value. The mixture is mechanically processed using a proprietary system that optimizes the bioavailability and increases its nutritional value. Nothing is added to the product – it is a pure form of Salvia hispanica L. and is simply the best available today.

MY REVIEW
Many of you may remember my Pualani giveaway a few weeks ago. I had the privelege of meeting Iwalani who owns Pualani Swimwear. Her energy and enthusiasm was contagious. When we were chatting about my review of her beautiful swimwear she offered me a glass of Mila mixed in water and said, "Here is a gift of health." After I drank it, she shared with me about this super food and Lifemax's mission to help bring Mila to impoverished people in Africa. I was inspired that I decided to have my family eat Mila everyday.
We all experienced increased energy and my husband's knee pain has decreased dramatically. When I don't take Mila my nails do not seem as hard and healthy and I am definitely hungrier. I love to mix it in brownies, sprinkle on salads and just drink it mixed in water. It is truly a staple of our diet now! (your pets will love it too)

Earn Money and Get Healthy!

Aloha Kanani: The Newest Hawaiian American Girl Doll!

American Girl is spreading the Aloha for their 25th birthday celebration with the debut of Kanani Akina, a Hawaiian doll.  I couldn't be more excited because we live in beautiful Hawaii and know just how special and remarkable these islands and the Hawaiian people are.    It's wonderful that her story and the spirit of Aloha will be shared with little ones all over the globe.
Kanani, which means beautiful is also the 2011 Girl of the Year.  Kanani loves Hawaii's tropical sunsets, fun lu‘aus, and sharing the aloha spirit.

Kanani has a hapa Hawaiian look with long, wavy medium-brown hair and hazel eyes.  Her kukui nut lei, "slippahs", and blue flowered dress are quintessentially Hawaiian style.

We just went nuts looking at all of the neat accessories for her like the paddle board set and the shave ice stand. She also comes with a book written by Lisa Yee, "Aloha Kanani," where you learn more about this island girl and her home on Kaua‘i.
In the book, Kanani loves everything about Hawai‘i and tries to share this aloha with her cousin from New York.  She helps to save a Hawaiian monk seal and discovers the joy of helping others

American Girl is sharing this Hawaiian aloha spirit by partnering with the National Wildlife Federation® (NWF) to help raise awareness of endangered animals, like the Hawaiian monk seal.
With the purchase of every Kanani plush monk seal sold in 2011, American Girl is donating $1 (up to a maximum of $100,000) to NWF’s efforts to help children throughout the United States gain an appreciation and understanding for America’s most vulnerable animals through various educational programs and activities.

Visit http://www.americangirl.com/ to order your Kanani doll or to check out all of their American Girl selection. You can also call

Drinking Kale Water for Health

Kale is a nutritionally excellent food.  It's packed with vitamins, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory nutrients.

Whenever I am cooking kale for my family I save the leftover water.  Call me crazy, but it tastes delicious.  It reminds me a little of green tea.  It's also loaded with vitamins such as vitamin K and vitamin A.
Other uses for your leftover kale water can be to freeze it and add in your stock or soup.  I always add a half a cup to my daughter's miso soup.  She doesn't even know it's in there but it certainly makes her soup even more nutritious.  So, next time save your veggie water and have a sip!

One thing I love about entering through the doors of LFWC is the friendly faces that greet me and the cutting edge handouts that are continuously available and constantly being updated.  I learn so much from them each visit and wanted to share this fun
"Guide for living in 2011" that I read the other day.

Health:
1. Drink plenty of water.
2. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar.

20. Make peace with your past so it won’t spoil the present.
21. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.

Green potatoes can make you sick

Have you ever bought a green potato?  Unfortunately, I have been seeing more green potatoes for sale at local supermarkets.  Many people have no idea that eating them could make you ill.  Potato poisoning happens when someone eats these green spuds or new sprouts that may be present.
WHY?
When green potatoes are this color it's due to high levels of chlorophyll, which is harmless but contribute to the high levels of a solanine.  This can cause nausea, headaches and other issues.
What to do?
I usually buy sweet potatoes, but once in a while when I do buy white potatoes, I stay away from buying them in bulk and check them thoroughly.  Oh, and just because they are organic they can still be green.  Also, keep them away from light since this activates the solanine.

LightAir IonFlow Air Purifier Review

The LightAir IonFlow 50 Surface can clean your air while looking beautiful in your room.  Research shows that LightAir IonFlow 50 in continuous operation is especially effective in eliminating the smallest particles, which are considered to cause severe health problems.
LightAir IonFlow 50 Surface

I was able to review the Surface model, which is the little sister of Style. It has a shorter slightly conical stand with a height of 56 cm. The shorter stand makes it fit both on a table and on the floor.

My thoughts:
Clean air is important to me so having an air purifier to make our space healthier is essential.  I was looking for a machine that was easy to use and low maintenance.
I was in love with the contemporary thin look of the Lightair and the fact that it has no filters to change made me smile.

This ionizing air purifier produces no ozone and removes the smallest pollution particles that are most harmful to your health: bacteria, dust, dander, pollen, smoke, mold and fungus spores. Studies show that within three hours of operation, mold particles in the air are reduced by over 90%.

I also liked that it runs on less than 10% of a light bulb’s energy (far less than other purifiers) and requires only periodic filter cleaning with hot water, saving you hundreds of dollars a year.
The assembly was easy as well, only taking me five minutes.  The look is one of the best features because it will be attractive in any room with it's compact modern design.

My criticism is that you will get an electrical shock from touching the cleaner when it's in use.  It's mild but I recommend keeping it out of children's reach and keeping the plastic shield on.
At first I didn't think it was working because it was so silent.  Interestingly enough I felt more energized in my living room (where it is placed) than in any of my other rooms.

I really like the lightAir Ion flow and am looking into their sky model as well.

  • Eliminates the smallest airborne pollutants
  • No expensive filters to change; wash collector every 2 weeks
  • Compact; fits on a table or countertop
  • Purifies rooms up to 540 sq. ft.
  • Works in under 5 hours without generating ozone
  • Does not lose its effect over time
  • Removes bacteria, dust, dander, pollen, smoke, mold and fungus spores
  • Discreet light at base, switches off at anytime
  • Runs on less than 10% of a light bulb’s energy
  • Saves you hundreds of dollars a year
  • Virtually silent operation under 5 decibels
  • Easy to use, assemble and maintain
You can purchase your LightAir here.

Tropical Traditions Coconut Cream Concentrate Giveaway

Coconut Cream Concentrate - 32 oz.
Ingredients: 100% Pure Organic Coconut!
Nothing else!

What is Coconut Cream ConcentrateTM?

Coconut Cream Concentrate is certified organic whole coconut meat in concentrated form. It contains no additives* (not even water). The dried coconut meat is ground very finely, giving it a creamy consistency due to its high fat content. Since it is 70% fat, it is a rich source of pure coconut oil. Note: this is a food, not a cooking oil.

How is Coconut Cream ConcentrateTM used?

You  can mix 1 or 2 teaspoons of Coconut Cream Concentrate with water or juice to make a creamy coconut drink. Many people put it in their coffee as a non-dairy creamer. It is also an excellent ingredient for cooking and baking. Because of its low moisture content, it can be mixed right in the batter or dough of breads and pastries. It can also enhance soups, be blended with smoothies, or made into ice cream.

My thoughts:

I use it as a butter replacement on toast and I also pour some over frozen blueberries which hardens like ice-cream and is delicious. I have also tried it in my norming coffee and I love the rich creamy flavor.  I use Coconut oil every day and this is yet another way to get the health benefits of coconut in all of your dishes.
Now you can have a chance to win!
