Wellness Wednesday- Sleep Changes

I am excited to be able to share with you what I have been learning over the past two weeks.  In case you haven't heard every first and third Wednesday is Wellness Wednesday here at Mom's Best Bets.  You can get healthy with Lifetime Family Wellness Center

What's been happening?
I leaned that there are two types of chiropractors, symptomatic and corrective. Corrective Care focuses on removing the underlying cause of illness and disease instead of masking the symptoms. Corrective Chiropractic Care removes misalignments, or Subluxations, in the spinal column. subluxations, misalignment, and the phase of spinal degeneration. Then, a specific care plan for me was drawn up. 
What needs to change?
Lots. I want to focus today on how sleeping may need to be altered. If you don't sleep on your back you should.  This position is preferred so that your spine is straight. Also, pillows usually cause your head to tilt up and are not supportive to the cervical curve of your neck.  I also use a small buckwheat filled pillow that is placed under my neck (not head). 

How I feel?
At first I will admit I was uncomfortable and annoyed, but sleeping on my back is so much better for alignment.  My body feels more flexible when I wake.
The pillow also took some time to get used to. But, now it seems quite normal.  It is interesting that most of us do not support our necks and the arc of life that is supposed to be present.

  3. I went to a chiropractor for years and even used a special pillow. I feel good now but it was alot of work to get better. Thanks for sharing this info.

  4. Wow! I've never gone to a chiropractor but my hubby has a few times, and it made a difference for him. He needed physio to make the difference last, though.

    I suppose our family tends to work on the other side of the equation, with healthy foods, home remedies, and physio. I just posted about some home remedy links and a great online holiday healthy food party.

  5. This is interesting. I'm a side sleeper, luckily no pains or issues. I've tried sleeping on my back but it's just not comfortable. Thanks for the great information!
