What is in your child's pajamas?

There could be PBDE (polybrominated diphenylether) AKA Flame retardantsin your jammies. These chemicals have been found in blood, urine, and breast milk. Research has shown PBDEs to be linked to thyroid, immune system, reproductive system, and liver damage. Flame-retardants are used in the US and Canada for children's sleepwear, carpet, mattresses, wallpaper, and other plastics. "The CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) requires that children's sleepwear contain flame-retardants or be snug fitting."

Basically, if your child's pajamas are not "snug fitting," they probably contain fire retardants. Like many parents, I was not aware of this and bought many cute, looser pj's for my daughter.

What is the best?

Snug fit pajamas are the best and look for organic when you can. Upon, my realization about my daughter pj's I started to look online and I found an awesome online store called Kid Bean.
